Volatile or Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) is a class of chemical compounds that emit vapor in the air to inhibit corrosion on a metal surface.
Typically, a packaging material such as PAPER or POLY FILM is the carrier for the VCI chemicals. VCI packaging is used in shipping, storage, and in-process, and provides the customer with a “dry packaging” option that combines the packaging material with rust prevention.
VCI’s typically eliminate the need for oils, grease, and liquid rust preventatives – providing labor and material cost savings.
